Gary Keller is founder and CEO of Xomix, Ltd., a Chicago-based biotechnology engaged in biotechnology businesses development, intellectual asset management, the commercialization of bio-innovations, and the design and implementation on strategic initiatives.

Xomix focuses on the commercialization and intellectual asset management of medical biotechnologies for industry, government, academia, and quasi-government organizations.

Keller has served as a expert in the evaluation, strategy development, licensing and commercialization of start-up, emerging, mid-sized, and Fortune 500 companies. Xomix is known for the ability to bring together subject matter experts, key market participants, IP holders, and stakeholders to maximized value.

Keller has served in a number of leadership roles that utilize his expertise in the development and launch of new initiatives.

Most recently he served as the founding Executive Director of The Florida Institute for Commercialization of Public Research, a statewide, quasi-government, not-for-profit corporation focused on economic development through the commercialization of new discoveries generated from publicly-funded research.

Prior, Keller led Strategic Initiatives and Workforce Development for the Chicago Technology Park Corporation and oversaw the BiTmaP Program, a $6M on-line bioinformatics certification program.

Keller is founding CEO and serves as a board member of Conkwest, Inc. (ZelleRx Corp.), a San Diego based biopharmaceutical company developing cancer treatment products based its proprietary natural killer (NK) cell line, NK-92.

He has more than 20 years of experience in business development for leading biotechnology companies including corporate development, product development, market development, sales, and scientific research and development.

He is known as an international speaker on the topics of marketing genetic therapies, commercialization of technologies, virtual incubation of companies, biotechnology led economic development, technology evaluation, technical sales and marketing development.

Keller has conducted business throughout the U.S. and abroad including England, Italy, Holland, Norway, and China. Keller has published in scientific journal and industry magazines, as well as co-authoring industry reports in key biotechnology areas including bioinformatics, genetic and cellular therapy, biotechnology sales and marketing, and bioclustering. He is known for extensive experience in communications and leadership training skills.

Prior to forming Xomix, Keller was National Manager Cellular Therapy for BioWhittaker, Inc. where he led the development and corporate expansion of this market area by refocusing and developing products and services for clinical applications. His areas of expertise included business planning, intellectual property management, strategic alliances, market development, strategic market analysis, sales force training, and acting as liaison with research and development for new products.

Prior to BioWhittaker, Keller spent eight years launching multiple international scientific equipment lines in the United States through national distribution and direct channels. He provided comprehensive support to companies to ensure success. Keller has also been a research scientist responsible for the development of a new line of products and patented devices for sample preparation.

Additionally, Keller serves on the Board of Directors of Mount Sinai Hospital (Chicago, IL) and numerous advisory boards for scientific organizations. Keller is currently adjunct faculty at Illinois Institute of Technology, Stuart Graduate School of Business – Management of Medical Technology, the Advisory Board of the Master of Biotechnology at Florida Atlantic University, and previously at the University of Illinois at Chicago, BioEngineering Department and Truman College, City Colleges of Chicago, Biotechnology Department.

Mr. Keller has served as co-chair of the Biotechnology Industry Organization -Technology Transfer Committee, is member of AUTM and CoChair of the Florida LES Chapter. Keller has also served as the chairman of the Emerging Technologies Council for the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce.

He has Masters of Biotechnology-Cell Biology & Bioinformatics from Northwestern University’s Center for Biotechnology (jointly between Northwestern University and Kellogg School of Business) and a Bachelors of Science-Biochemistry from Pennsylvania State University.
